Our History

 

The beginning

 

Founded in 1950 by late Elias Caunhye, Caunhye Bijoux Co. Ltd, then known as Bijouterie Bienvenue, first opened its door in Rose Hill, which was the home town of the Caunhye family at that time.

 

Initially Elias opened a little workshop attached to his shop. In 1958 buoyed by the solid reputation he has been establishing, Elias moved his shop and atelier to Moka Street, Port Louis where the head office is still located.

 

Raffik and Siddick, sons of Late Elias Caunhye, joined the business around 1968 and 1975 respectively. Together the two brothers, with their legacy in jewellery and their acumen, strived hard and invested. They were the catalysts that propelled Caunhye Bijoux to the significant corporation that it is today.

 

Like all winners, the Caunhye brothers had to struggle a lot at first. With only a small team, they spent countless white nights to deliver to customers on time. Later on, they worked closely with several international celebrities until they gained their reputation as one of the elite jewellers in Mauritius.

Caunhye Bijoux built its reputation by the satisfaction of their customers, not through advertising. While Siddick has been building good customer relationship, Raffik ensured the highest standard and finest jewellery were being churned out. And the fruit of patience and hard work is always sweet: this beautiful family affair flourished to what it is today. The enterprise won several awards throughout the years in recognition of their craftsmanship.

 

During the 90’s, the Caunhye brothers diversified the business to supply Indian style handmade jewellery for the wholesale market. Eventually, our activities have expanded to cover the whole gamut of the jewellery manufacturing and trade.

 

Nowadays...

 

Today the third generation of the Caunhye family are working hand in hand with our team of skilful craftsmen to produce exquisite collections.
